My Bestfriend’s House - Blue Hawaii

Article photo - Hot Electronic: March 2022 Edition

My Bestfriend’s House is gorgeous; and feels like it takes place under a hazy, blue-skied landscape you visited once in a dream state. There is something thoroughly unique about the production of this song; in that it feels familiar, while also being unlike anything you have heard before.

The gentle epiano chords mixed with a four to the floor heavy beat weave together flawlessly to give it a fun DIY feel, the vocals melting over them, the song building and becoming more and more addictive as time goes on. The Canadian duo also just released an EP recently, which you can listen to here

Donny Benét - Le Piano

Article photo - Hot Electronic: March 2022 Edition

The 2017 single Konichiwa was my first introduction to Donny Benét - I was walking to work, traffic noise blared all around me as everyone else was heading home, (I worked in the evenings, so my workday began when everyone else’s ended) but throughout all the industrial noise and bitterness, I was able to recognize that this song was unlike anything I had ever heard before.

Since then I have listened to everything Donny Benet has ever released - Le Piano is his most recent single, and it is a shimmering, seductive, dreamlike fantasia. It features a funky bassline paired with luscious pads (and of course, le piano).

This new instrumental song from Donny Benét is bliss - it is an island you can visit when you just need to relax and escape.

SHOSH, Kelsey - N Love

Article photo - Hot Electronic: March 2022 Edition

I will always love Garage; specifically because a lot of the songs I became thoroughly obsessed with as a teenager were Garage songs (or in some way influenced by this genre). Memory and youth are woven into the very fabric of this genre for me; N Love possessing all of the characteristics that made me love this genre in the first place.

N Love is a collaboration between DJ/Producer SHOSH (who is behind 24hr Garage Girls), and features incredible vocals from Kelsey.  A flawless beat, garage bass, gentle glittering pads, luscious vocals - this bears all the hallmarks of becoming a classic.

Chase Icon - Call Your Mom

Article photo - Hot Electronic: March 2022 Edition

This is not an empty threat. Chase Icon is going to be contacting your mom, and depending on how things go, there is also a chance she will be telling your nana.

Call Your Mom is a hypnotic, relentless banger from start to finish;  a delightfully dark and bass fuelled production with flawless vocals; this is a song that reminds me of the music that captured my imagination and generated my interest in electronic music in the first place. This song might also ruin your life, as you will be unable to listen to anything else for quite some time.
