Marc Broussard - You’ll Be Sorry feat. Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith

I immediately fell in love with this song from the first note! The guitar is so gritty, yet soulful, that it instantly sets the tone for the song. Accents played by the band are a classic Blues staple. The drummer comes in with a ‘Texas shuffle’ type beat that is both bluesy and funky. The artist’s vocals are fantastic and effortless. If you mix that with honky tonk piano, you have a recipe for musical success!

Joe Bonamassa - Walk On Hot Coals (Live)

Known for his incredible guitar tone and blues riffs, Joe Bonamassa delivers a masterpiece in this song. A driving syncopated backbeat from the drummer and a straight-ahead groove from the bass really allow Joe to do his thing over the rhythm section. Add soulful vocals to the blistering guitar solo, and you have an instant classic.

Joanne Shaw Taylor - The Trouble With Love

I really love the way this song is mixed. There are a lot of things going on with multiple instruments, but nothing ever gets in the way. The song’s intro has an old-school rock ‘n’ roll feel, with the drummer playing on the rims of the drums, which reminded me of Bill Hailey’s ‘Rock Around the Clock’. The driving shuffle groove that kicks in in the verse is super solid and a great foundation for the guitars to lay on top of. The vocals are sultry and emotional, while the guitar playing is second to none.

Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar - My Crown - Live

I always like ‘live’ versions of songs because you can hear the real talent of the musicians. I mean, no studio magic to enhance things. This is a great example; the singer has excellent pitch, and the backing vocalists are excellent at keeping the harmonies tight. This song has a modern Blues feel, almost sprinkled with a country and western flavour. These are clearly excellent musicians.

Ryan Neville - Shake Em Blues
This classic Blues-sounding track is based on a fast shuffle beat. The vocalist has a great tone to his voice, which complements this song perfectly. I like how this guitar solo is understated; it’s not flashy at all. The solo is all about playing the right notes that help create the blues sound.

Rois Carolus - APRIL CRIES BLACK RAIN
This laid-back Blues Rock track has a real rawness to it. My favorite thing about any of these Blues styles is that there is no sign of Auto-Tune anywhere. Simply because this type of music doesn’t need to be perfect. There are inflections in the vocal performance that a computer may not like, but they add authenticity to the song. The Blues guitar in the guitar solo is excellent.

Clay Brown & the Trouble Round Town - Satisfy Your Mind
This Blues Rock tune has a great feel. The guitars are high in the mix, and multiple guitar parts really add depth to the song. The vocalist has an impressive range, going from the bass octave to falsetto effortlessly. The rythm section lays down a solid groove over a sparse melody.

Rick Vito - Vegas Jump
This song has an amazing Blues slide guitar. The double-time feel makes it sound like old-school blues. This production is very simple, giving each instrument a chance to breathe. The main melody on the guitar weaves perfectly with the bassline.

Bob Corritore, Tia Carroll - Ernestine
This is an amazing track. The soulful vocals and blues bassline make it instantly cool. I love the baritone sax that is played on occasion. It is such a difficult instrument to play, and also even harder to work into a song. The retro feel of this tune gives it its cool factor.

Jon Maybey - Ocean Blues
This contemporary Blues instrumental track does a great job of laying down an infectious groove. The guitar quickly switches from an overdrive guitar tone to a clean tone, which helps the song dynamically. The dirtier guitar tone creates a funky, almost hypnotic riff. This is a cool track!
